GENESIS Biomed launches its first strategic training program to promote innovative entrepreneurship

The consulting firm GENESIS Biomed, located at the Parc Científic de Barcelona, has created its training program GENESIS CEO Academy, an educational initiative designed to prepare the future leaders of the life sciences sector. This program is aimed at equipping researchers, entrepreneurs, and professionals in the biomedical field with the knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary to successfully lead a startup or spinoff during its early development stages.

In the biomedical ecosystem, many entrepreneurial initiatives emerge from scientific advances generated in universities, research centres, or hospital institutions. Although these innovative ideas often have great potential, they frequently lack an experienced business-oriented leader capable of taking the project from the lab to the market. This absence hinders their progress, reduces their chances of success, and, in many cases, compromises their viability.

GENESIS Biomed, with its extensive experience in strategic consulting and support for biomedical projects, has identified this critical need on numerous occasions. In response, it has created the GENESIS CEO Academy: a specialized training space that combines theory and practice to shape the next leaders in the sector.

The goal of this program is to provide participants with a global and strategic vision of the life cycle of a startup in the field of biomedicine—from its creation to market consolidation. To achieve this, it focuses on business management as applied to the sector, addressing key aspects such as business models, fundraising, regulatory strategy, intellectual property protection, and market access. At the same time, it develops essential leadership skills such as team management, decision-making, investor negotiation, and effective communication. Finally, the program also seeks to foster an entrepreneurial mindset within scientific environments, helping researchers and technologists take the leap toward technology transfer and the creation of innovative companies.

The training content is primarily targeted at researchers and PhD holders who wish to acquire management skills to lead a startup or spinoff in the future; interim CEOs already heading a startup who need training to enhance their leadership capabilities; and health-sector entrepreneurs looking to consolidate their leadership and prepare for funding rounds or growth stages. Prior business management experience is not required to access the program, although familiarity with the biomedical sector is considered an asset.

The programme is structured around thematic modules that combine theoretical sessions, practical case studies, group dynamics, and personalized mentoring. The content covers key areas such as the diagnosis and analysis of each participant’s needs—resulting in a customized roadmap and work plan; an introduction to best practices in health entrepreneurship; team management and investor negotiation; regulatory aspects; intellectual property strategy; business models and funding pathways; as well as the current legal framework. In addition, the program includes inspiring sessions with CEOs and founders of established startups who share their real-life experiences, the challenges they have faced, and the lessons they have learned.

The registration period will be open until July 18, 2025.
