Estephan Arredondo receives the 2026 Bioentrepreneurship Award from the College of Biologists of Catalonia

The College of Biologists of Catalonia has awarded the 2026 Bioentrepreneurship Prize to Estephan Arredondo, Technical Director at BeCytes Biotechnologies, a company based at the Barcelona Science Park. This recognition highlights his professional career, his driving role in the development of innovative biotechnological projects, and the trajectory of his company.

This distinction is part of the “2026 Biologist’s Day Awards”, an annual call that recognizes initiatives with high social, scientific, and business impact within the life sciences sector. The presentation of this award underscores the commitment to a model of scientific entrepreneurship capable of transferring research into applied solutions with real industrial potential.

With a well-established career in applied biotechnology, Estephan Arredondo has devoted his professional path to transforming scientific knowledge into high-impact solutions. In his role as Technical Director at BeCytes Biotechnologies, recently acquired by the multinational BioIVT, he has promoted projects aimed at bringing laboratory innovations into applied settings, advancing new biomedical tools, and improving technological translation processes.

In addition to the award granted to Arredondo in the Bioentrepreneurship category, the Governing Board of the College of Biologists of Catalonia has recognized a total of eight professionals across six categories, acknowledging outstanding careers that span from basic to applied research, as well as notable contributions in the environmental, health, and academic fields. The 2026 Biologist’s Day Awards thus highlight the diversity of biological talent in the country and the commitment of these professionals to innovation and the social impact of biology.
