Carolina Aguilar, CEO of INBRAIN Neuroelectronics, recognized as Best Chief Executive Officer by the European Investment Bank

Carolina Aguilar, CEO and Co-Founder of INBRAIN Neuroelectronics, headquartered at the Barcelona Science Park, has been honored as “Best Chief Executive Officer” by the European Investment Bank Group (EIB Group) during the first edition of the EIBG Summit for Women Leaders in Life Sciences, held as part of BIO-Europe 2025 in Vienna. The award recognizes Aguilar’s exceptional leadership, strategic vision, and commitment to transforming neurotechnology to improve the lives of patients worldwide.

Under her leadership, this medtech company has developed the world’s first graphene-based neural platform, capable of decoding and modulating brain signals with unprecedented precision, safety, and scalability. This technology, born in Barcelona, opens a new horizon for the personalized treatment of neurological disorders through artificial intelligence and advanced materials.

The event, organized by the EIB Group under the patronage of President Nadia Calviño, brought together female scientists, entrepreneurs, investors, and leaders from the European biomedical sector to promote the role of women in the life sciences. During the summit, strategic investments were also announced, including a €20 million loan to the Spanish company Overture Life, focused on the automation of assisted reproduction processes.

BIO-Europe 2025 is one of the largest international gatherings in the biotechnology sector, bringing together thousands of representatives from pharmaceutical companies, startups, investment funds, research institutions, and public organizations each year. This year’s edition, held in Vienna, served as a platform to foster collaboration between scientific innovation, financing, and business leadership, with a special emphasis on the role of women in advancing the life sciences.

With this recognition, Carolina Aguilar consolidates her position as one of the most influential voices in the European deeptech ecosystem, combining science, technology, and social purpose to redefine the boundaries of applied neuroscience.
