Josep Maria Caparrós publishes a book about the history of European cinema

Providing a historical perspective on European cinema is the aim of the book History of European Cinema. From Lumière to Lars von Trier recently published by Josep Maria Caparrós Lera, who is both director of the Centre , based in the Parc Científic de Barcelona, and lecturer in the Department of Contemporary History of the Universitat de Barcelona (UB, University of Barcelona).


Published by the cinema specialists Rialp, the book deals widely with the silent era (1895-1930), the sound era (1931-1958) and the contemporary world (1959-2000), analyses over 32 representative films and lists the cast and technical credits of 370 productions. It also takes a critical look at the most significant films produced in Europe and includes an extensive bibliography organized by subject.

Dr. Josep Maria Caparrós Lera, who has written over thirty specialised books, is lecturer in Contemporary History and Cinema at the UB and is a member of the Spanish Academy of Arts and Cinematographic Sciences.
