Esta iniciativa quiere reconoce y apoyar \u2014con ayudas econ\u00f3micas y coaching\u2014 a cient\u00edficas con hijos a cargo que trabajan para lograr una posici\u00f3n de liderazgo y hacer avanzar la investigaci\u00f3n en sus campos.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>El panel de selecci\u00f3n externo, formado por las profesoras de investigaci\u00f3n ICREA del Instituto Josep Carreras y del Centro de Investigaci\u00f3n en Agrigen\u00f3mica, respectivamente, Mariona Graupera y Soraya Pelaz, y por la Directora General de la Fundaci\u00f3n Catalunya La Pedrera, Marta Lacambra, destac\u00f3 el elevado nivel cient\u00edfico de las candidatas en la <a href=\"https:\/\/bist.eu\/mothers-aspiring-to-leadership-roles-in-science\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">edici\u00f3n 2024 de \u00abTo the Mothers of Science\u00bb<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Gracias a la ayuda del programa, estas investigadoras recibir\u00e1n ahora sesiones de coaching en grupo con la formadora <strong>Arantxa G\u00f3mez Esqu\u00e9<\/strong> \u2212coach especializada en el entorno de la investigaci\u00f3n cient\u00edfica\u2212, y una ayuda de 400 euros al mes durante un a\u00f1o para destinar a lo que consideren m\u00e1s necesario.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Tener hijos afecta m\u00e1s la carrera profesional de las mujeres que de los hombres<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>A pesar de que actualmente los hombres participan mucho m\u00e1s en la crianza de los hijos de lo que hac\u00edan sus padres y abuelos hace treinta o sesenta a\u00f1os, estudios recientes demuestran que la paternidad y la maternidad afectan de manera desigual a las carreras profesionales de hombres y mujeres. Esta diferencia es especialmente destacada en el \u00e1mbito de las carreras STEM, un entorno que suele asociarse a un ritmo de trabajo muy intenso y en constante evoluci\u00f3n, y en el que es f\u00e1cil quedarse rezagado.<\/p>\n<p>Un <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pnas.org\/doi\/full\/10.1073\/pnas.1810862116\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">estudio<\/a>\u00a0realizado en EE.UU. entre profesionales de las disciplinas STEM demostr\u00f3 que, aunque la llegada de hijos afecta significativamente tanto a la carrera profesional de los hombres como de las mujeres, lo hace de manera m\u00e1s evidente en las mujeres: entre 4 y 7 a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s de la llegada del primer hijo, el 43% de las profesionales STEM hab\u00edan cambiado su trabajo a jornada completa por otro tipo de trabajo o hab\u00edan dejado de trabajar, respecto al 23% de los hombres que lo hab\u00edan hecho. En Catalu\u00f1a, el estudio<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aqu.cat\/en\/doc\/Estudis\/il-titulats\/Genere\/Women-s-Employment-Outcomes-Twenty-Years-after-Finishing-University\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> \u00abLa inserci\u00f3n laboral de las mujeres veinte a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s de finalizar los estudios universitarios\u00bb<\/a> (AQU Catalunya, 2021), apunta en la misma direcci\u00f3n, mostrando que tener hijos duplica la brecha salarial entre hombres y mujeres, y que las ciencias experimentales y matem\u00e1ticas son de los \u00e1mbitos con m\u00e1s techo de cristal (porcentaje m\u00e1s bajo de mujeres en posiciones de responsabilidad sobre otras personas). El mismo estudio de la AQU Catalunya indica que las madres con hijos tienen una percepci\u00f3n de desequilibrio en el tiempo dedicado a la familia, al trabajo y a una misma mayor que los padres y las personas sin hijos.<\/p>\n<p>\u00abResulta sorprendente que, pese a los esfuerzos dedicados a promover vocaciones cient\u00edficas entre las ni\u00f1as y que las j\u00f3venes sean mayoritarias en nuestros programas de vocaciones y talento, el hecho de ser madre se convierta en una dificultad a\u00f1adida a la ya compleja carrera de una mujer cient\u00edfica,\u201d lamenta la directora de la Fundaci\u00f3n Catalunya La Pedrera, <strong>Marta Lacambra<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>El programa To the Mothers of Science quiere paliar este malestar entre las madres.
