Su precio asequible y la facilidad de uso han popularizado su uso y ha sustituido a otros materiales m\u00e1s ecol\u00f3gicos.<\/p>\n<p>El aluminio forma parte del mineral bauxita y es el elemento met\u00e1lico m\u00e1s abundante en la corteza terrestre, con m\u00e1s de un 8% de abundancia, pero su extracci\u00f3n y proceso de fabricaci\u00f3n provocan importantes impactos ambientales. El proceso de fabricaci\u00f3n supone un elevado consumo de energ\u00eda y recursos: hasta 15.000 kW\/h y 5 toneladas de bauxita por cada tonelada de aluminio.<\/p>\n<p>El reciclaje del aluminio es rentable, los residuos de aluminio se pueden fundir y el material resultante puede utilizarse otra vez para hacer laminado de la misma calidad. Sin embargo, todo el proceso industrial ligado al ciclo de fabricaci\u00f3n de papel de aluminio es ambientalmente costoso. Para usos dom\u00e9sticos existen alternativas de otros materiales (<em>tuppers<\/em> multiuso, papel, envoltura de ropa, etc.) que reducen el consumo de papel de aluminio.
