Los resultados, descritos en Nature Structural &amp; Molecular Biology, establecieron las bases para la fundaci\u00f3n en 2021 de Nuage Therapeutic como spinoff del IRB Barcelona y ICREA. Gracias al potencial de su ciencia, la compa\u00f1\u00eda &#8211; con sede en el Parque Cient\u00edfico de Barcelona- cerr\u00f3 una ronda semilla de 12 M\u20ac en\u00a0 2023.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>La mayor\u00eda de las oncoprote\u00ednas humanas pertenecen a una clase de prote\u00ednas llamadas \u201cfactores de transcripci\u00f3n\u201d, pero hasta ahora no se hab\u00eda conseguido dise\u00f1ar medicamentos para bloquear o amplificar su efecto.<\/p>\n<p>Los factores de transcripci\u00f3n son prote\u00ednas reguladoras que se unen al ADN, activan o desactivan genes y controlan la velocidad a la que se transcribe el ADN en ARN mensajero, necesario para la s\u00edntesis de prote\u00ednas. Debido a su papel central en el control de la formaci\u00f3n de nuevas prote\u00ednas, muchas enfermedades pueden atribuirse a factores de transcripci\u00f3n desregulados.<\/p>\n<p>Inhibir su actividad, especialmente en el c\u00e1ncer, ofrece un potencial terap\u00e9utico, pero muchos factores de transcripci\u00f3n esconden un as bajo la manga. Sus dominios de activaci\u00f3n son intr\u00ednsecamente desordenados, lo que significa que carecen de una estructura tridimensional clara. La falta de una estructura 3D estable hace pr\u00e1cticamente imposible dise\u00f1ar medicamentos que se unan a los dominios de activaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>Un equipo liderado por los investigadores del IRB Barcelona,\u00a0<strong>Dr. Xavier Salvatella<\/strong>\u00a0(Profesor de Investigaci\u00f3n ICREA) y\u00a0<strong>Dr. Antoni Riera<\/strong>\u00a0(Profesor de la Universidad de Barcelona), y por el\u00a0<strong>Dr. Denes Hnisz<\/strong>\u00a0del Instituto Max Planck de Gen\u00e9tica Molecular, y la\u00a0<strong>Dra. Marianne D. Sadar<\/strong>\u00a0del BC Cancer (Universidad de British Columbia, Canad\u00e1) se centr\u00f3 en la tendencia de las prote\u00ednas intr\u00ednsecamente desordenadas a formar condensados moleculares.
