Conocer sus mecanismos b\u00e1sicos de acci\u00f3n es clave para comprender mejor el desarrollo normal y patol\u00f3gico de nuestro organismo. Los resultados del trabajo, publicado en Nature Communications, abren nuevas l\u00edneas de investigaci\u00f3n para el tratamiento de m\u00faltiples enfermedades respiratorias.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>En la membrana e la c\u00e9lula existen receptores que reciben se\u00f1ales de su entorno, se\u00f1ales que les llegan a trav\u00e9s mol\u00e9culas muy espec\u00edficas (ligandos), lo que desencadena una cascada de se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n intracelular que regula eventos diversos: desde la migraci\u00f3n de la c\u00e9lula, hasta su desarrollo y diferenciaci\u00f3n, o una respuesta inmunitaria, por ejemplo.<\/p>\n<p>La actividad de los receptores regula muchos procesos del desarrollo y de la autorregulaci\u00f3n del organismo. Conocer c\u00f3mo se activan los receptores ha permitido comprender aspectos de la biolog\u00eda del desarrollo, as\u00ed como identificar dianas terap\u00e9uticas. \u201cLa activaci\u00f3n del receptor tiene que estar controlada de forma extremadamente precisa para desencadenar la respuesta adecuada en el lugar y en el momento preciso\u201d, explica <strong>Marta Llimargas<\/strong>, que dirige el\u00a0laboratorio de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ibmb.csic.es\/en\/department-of-cells-and-tissues\/mechanisms-of-morphogenesis-and-organogenesis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mecanismos de morfog\u00e9nesis y organog\u00e9nesis<\/a> en el IBMB-CSIC.<\/p>\n<p>En principio, est\u00e1 generalmente aceptado que los receptores se encuentran siempre en la membrana de la c\u00e9lula y que act\u00faan todos de una forma similar&#8230; Pero, \u00bfPodr\u00eda un receptor actuar de forma diferente? \u00bfPodr\u00eda no estar en la membrana celular?<\/p>\n<p>Esto es lo que revela un trabajo de <strong>Llimargas<\/strong> y su grupo. El equipo ha identificado un mecanismo de actividad no convencional en un receptor de la familia TNF (<em>Tumor Necrosis Factor<\/em>), que interviene en la formaci\u00f3n del sistema traqueal de la mosca\u00a0<em>Drosophila\u00a0melanogaster.<\/em> El receptor no se encuentra en la membrana de la c\u00e9lula, sino que se internaliza en la c\u00e9lula, \u201calgo que parece ser esencial para su actividad\u201d, apuntan los cient\u00edficos en el trabajo.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\"><\/div>\n<p>Los investigadores han visto que este receptor concreto, el TNFR Wengen, no act\u00faa de forma convencional uni\u00e9ndose a su ligando y desencadenando una cascada de se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n convencional, sino que forma un complejo y regula directamente la actividad de otro receptor, el FGFR-Breathless. \u201cFGFR-Breathless y TNFR Wengen se localizan ambos en ves\u00edculas intracelulares y forman un complejo\u201d, subraya la investigadora.<\/p>\n<p>Se sab\u00eda previamente que FGFR-Breathless es esencial para el desarrollo de la tr\u00e1quea, y que regula diferentes etapas, incluyendo la diferenciaci\u00f3n celular. El receptor FGFR-Breathless se localiza en ves\u00edculas pero tambi\u00e9n en la membrana celular, donde recibe su ligando y transduce su se\u00f1al a trav\u00e9s de su v\u00eda de se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n convencional.
