El cierre de una ronda de inversi\u00f3n privada de 1 M\u20ac eleva a un total de 5,6 M\u20ac el capital conseguido por la startup, ubicada en el Parque Cient\u00edfico de Barcelona. Esto le permitir\u00e1 la continuidad de su actividad durante los tres pr\u00f3ximos a\u00f1os, as\u00ed como la salida al mercado, prevista a finales de 2023.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>De las m\u00e1s de 1.000\u00a0startups\u00a0y pymes que se presentaron a esta <a href=\"https:\/\/eic.ec.europa.eu\/news\/most-competitive-eic-accelerator-cut-awards-major-funding-round-74-europes-high-potential-start-ups-2022-06-07_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">primera ronda del 2022 del\u00a0EIC\u00a0Accelerator<\/a>, solo 266 lograron llegar a la \u00faltima fase de entrevistas con jurados de inversores y emprendedores experimentados. Finalmente, se seleccionaron 74 empresas de alto potencial, que recibir\u00e1n una combinaci\u00f3n de subvenciones, e inversiones en capital a trav\u00e9s del <a href=\"https:\/\/eic.ec.europa.eu\/investment-opportunities_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EIC Fund<\/a>, en funci\u00f3n de sus necesidades, adem\u00e1s de una serie de servicios de aceleraci\u00f3n empresarial.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/newborn.solutions\/es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Newborn Solutions<\/a> es la \u00fanica empresa espa\u00f1ola del sector salud en este corte. Concretamente, los 4,5 M\u20ac levantados por la compan\u00eda corresponden a 2,5 M\u20ac en financiaci\u00f3n y el resto en inversi\u00f3n de capital. \u201cSer una de estas 74 empresas es un verdadero reconocimiento al trabajo que hemos realizado desde la creaci\u00f3n de Newborn Solutions, y una muestra del apoyo a nuestra visi\u00f3n y estrategia para los pr\u00f3ximos a\u00f1os. Es un privilegio contar con el apoyo de la UE a la innovaci\u00f3n en\u00a0<em>deep\u00a0tech<\/em>, y formar parte de una visi\u00f3n m\u00e1s amplia, que es la de mejorar el cuidado de la salud\u00a0a trav\u00e9s de tecnolog\u00edas disruptivas y de impacto global\u201d, afirma <strong>Javier Jim\u00e9nez<\/strong>, fundador y CEO de la startup.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Neosonics: dispositivo m\u00e9dico no-invasivo para la meningitis infantil<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Newborn Solutions est\u00e1 desarrollando <a href=\"https:\/\/newborn.solutions\/es\/neosonics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Neosonics,<\/a> un dispositivo \u00fanico de conteo celular, que permite la criba y monitorizaci\u00f3n de infecciones en los l\u00edquidos serosos, de manera r\u00e1pida, f\u00e1cil y no invasiva, con un foco en pacientes con sospecha de meningitis infantil.<\/p>\n<p>La detecci\u00f3n de la meningitis es un reto por los s\u00edntomas poco espec\u00edficos asociados a la infecci\u00f3n, especialmente en lactantes y neonatos, con muy poca sintomatolog\u00eda, pero los pacientes que m\u00e1s riesgo corren ante la enfermedad. Por eso, la historia cl\u00ednica y el examen f\u00edsico a menudo son insuficientes para confirmar o excluir el diagn\u00f3stico. La punci\u00f3n lumbar para extraer el l\u00edquido cefalorraqu\u00eddeo es una investigaci\u00f3n esencial, pero dif\u00edcil de llevar a cabo y no exenta de riesgo para el ni\u00f1o enfermo.<\/p>\n<p>Neosonics es un dispositivo no-invasivo <em>first-in-class,<\/em> basado en ultrasonidos de alta resoluci\u00f3n, material de acoplamiento propio y algoritmos de inteligencia artificial basados en <em>deep learning<\/em> para acompa\u00f1ar el diagn\u00f3stico y las decisiones de tratamiento. Neosonics ayudar\u00e1 a proporcionar un mejor tratamiento de manera menos invasiva, para una mejor gesti\u00f3n de neonatos o lactantes en riesgo o con una meningitis confirmada.<\/p>\n<p>Para validar la tecnolog\u00eda en desarrollo, Newborn Solutions est\u00e1 llevando a cabo estudios cl\u00ednicos multic\u00e9ntricos y cuenta con la colaboraci\u00f3n, desde hace ya varios a\u00f1os, de expertos en pediatr\u00eda, neonatolog\u00eda y enfermedades infecciosas. Los ensayos se realizan gracias a las alianzas con centros de referencia en Espa\u00f1a como el Hospital Universitario La Paz (Madrid), el Hospital Quir\u00f3nsalud Madrid (Pozuelo de Alarc\u00f3n) y el Hospital Sant Joan de D\u00e9u (Barcelona). Tambi\u00e9n participan, gracias a una colaboraci\u00f3n con ISGlobal, el Centro de Investigaci\u00f3n en Salud de Manhi\u00e7a y el Hospital General de Maputo, en Mozambique.<\/p>\n<p>As\u00ed mismo, la startup est\u00e1 llevando a cabo diversos estudios cl\u00ednicos para demostrar la viabilidad del dispositivo Neosonics en otras aplicaciones con infecciones en l\u00edquidos serosos, concretamente con el Hospital Universitario Germans Tries i Pujol en Badalona, en pacientes con sospecha de uve\u00edtis, y en el Hospital Bellvitge, para peritonitis.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Dar un paso m\u00e1s all\u00e1 en el campo del diagn\u00f3stico<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Newborn Solutions est\u00e1 tambi\u00e9n desarrollando un software de ayuda al diagn\u00f3stico y al tratamiento que usa modelos predictivos basados en<em> machine learning<\/em> explotando <em>big data<\/em> de datos cl\u00ednicos y de laboratorio.
