La <a href=\"https:\/\/www.contraelcancer.es\/es\/actualidad\/noticias\/asociacion-participa-iniciativa-global-cancer-grand-challenges-estudiar-primeras-etapas-cancer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Asociaci\u00f3n Espa\u00f1ola Contra el C\u00e1ncer (AECC)<\/a> se ha unido a esta plataforma de financiaci\u00f3n global -cofundada por el Cancer Research UK (CRUK) y el National Cancer Institute (NCI) de los Estados Unidos- aportando 2,5 millones de euros para impulsar este estudio innovador, que busca investigar las primeras etapas del desarrollo del c\u00e1ncer.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>El equipo, denominado <a href=\"https:\/\/cancergrandchallenges.org\/teams\/prominent\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prominent<\/a>, codirigido por la <strong>Dra. L\u00f3pez-Bigas<\/strong>, el <strong>Dr. Allan Balmain<\/strong> (Universidad de California, San Francisco) y el <strong>Dr. Paul Brennan<\/strong> (International Agency for Research donde Cancer, IARC-OMS), trabajar\u00e1 sobre hallazgos recientes que sugieren que las c\u00e9lulas pueden mostrarse aparentemente &#8216;normales&#8217;, aunque cuenten en su ADN con mutaciones que causan c\u00e1ncer. Con esta informaci\u00f3n, el equipo -formado por cient\u00edficos con experiencia en epidemiolog\u00eda, gen\u00e9tica, im\u00e1genes y otros campos de cinco instituciones de Espa\u00f1a, Francia y los Estados Unidos- construir\u00e1n una &#8216;hoja de ruta&#8217; del desarrollo temprano del c\u00e1ncer con la esperanza de encontrar nuevas maneras de frenar la aparici\u00f3n de esta enfermedad.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-75367 \" src=\"https:\/\/www.pcb.ub.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/PROMINENT-general-1-1-e1655904521247.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"577\" height=\"287\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u00bfQu\u00e9 es lo que mantiene saludables a las c\u00e9lulas sanas y qu\u00e9 es lo que hace que una c\u00e9lula se vuelva cancerosa? \u00abHa sido emocionante pensar en c\u00f3mo combinaremos nuestra experiencia complementaria para abordar esta gran pregunta.
