La compa\u00f1\u00eda -que fue fundada el 2019 por el <a href=\"https:\/\/prousresearch.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prous Institute for Biomedical Research<\/a>, Josep Prous, David Prous y Jordi F\u00e0brega para desarrollar nuevos tratamientos para necesidades m\u00e9dicas no resueltas del sistema nervioso central- est\u00e1 acelerando el desarrollo del f\u00e1rmaco para empezar los estudios cl\u00ednicos el 2022.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Actualmente, el s\u00edndrome X fr\u00e1gil no tiene cura. CTH120 permitir\u00e1 abordar el origen de la patolog\u00eda, no s\u00f3lo paliar los s\u00edntomas, mediante una estrategia terap\u00e9utica innovadora basada en la modulaci\u00f3n de la neuroplasticidad.<\/p>\n<p>El cofundador y CEO de Connecta, <strong>Jordi F\u00e0brega<\/strong>, explica que \u201cpromover los tratamientos de enfermedades minoritarias es una prioridad de salud p\u00fablica ya que existen cerca de 7.000 enfermedades raras que afectan al 7% de la poblaci\u00f3n mundial\u201d. Para Connecta Therapeutics, este reconocimiento \u201cayudar\u00e1 a acelerar el desarrollo cient\u00edfico y de negocio de la compa\u00f1\u00eda, y facilitar\u00e1 el inicio de nuevas l\u00edneas de investigaci\u00f3n en el campo de las enfermedades del sistema nervioso central\u201d, destaca F\u00e0brega.<\/p>\n<p>La EMA otorga esta designaci\u00f3n para apoyar el desarrollo de medicamentos para enfermedades que afecten a menos de cinco pacientes por cada 10.000 habitantes en la Uni\u00f3n Europea. As\u00ed, las compa\u00f1\u00edas que desarrollan estos medicamentos disfrutan de beneficios adicionales como la exclusividad de mercado durante 10 a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n<p>Con el fin de llevar CTH120 a ensayos cl\u00ednicos, Connecta Therapeutics cerr\u00f3 en 2020 una ronda de inversi\u00f3n de 1,7 millones de euros liderada por <a href=\"https:\/\/inveready.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Inveready<\/a> y el <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdti.es\/index.asp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CDTI<\/a>, a trav\u00e9s del programa Innvierte,\u00a0 y tambi\u00e9n recibi\u00f3 una ayuda \u201cRetos Colaboraci\u00f3n\u201d del <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ciencia.gob.es\/site-web\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovaci\u00f3n<\/a> cercana a los 2 millones de euros a trav\u00e9s del consorcio p\u00fablico-privado formado por la compa\u00f1\u00eda, el Centro de Regulaci\u00f3n \u00a0Gen\u00f3mica (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.crg.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CRG)<\/a> y el Instituto Hospital del Mar de Investigaciones M\u00e9dicas (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.imim.cat\/es_index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IMIM<\/a>).<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Un first-in-class para abordar el SXF desde una estrategia innovadora<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>El s\u00edndrome X fr\u00e1gil es un trastorno gen\u00e9tico hereditario ligado al cromosoma X que causa discapacidad intelectual y problemas emocionales y sociales, de leves a graves, como hiperactividad, ansiedad, comportamientos agresivos o autismo. Su prevalencia se estima en menos de 3 pacientes por cada 10.000 habitantes.
