{"id":39294,"date":"2018-07-05T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2018-07-04T23:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.pcb.ub.edu\/\/jordi-mestres-fellow-de-la-royal-society-of-chemistry\/"},"modified":"2018-07-05T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2018-07-04T23:00:00","slug":"jordi-mestres-fellow-de-la-royal-society-of-chemistry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pcb.ub.edu\/es\/jordi-mestres-fellow-de-la-royal-society-of-chemistry\/","title":{"rendered":"Jordi Mestres, &#8216;Fellow&#8217; de la Royal Society of Chemistry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>La\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.rsc.org\/\">Royal Society of Chemistry<\/a>\u00a0es una organizaci\u00f3n sin \u00e1nimo de lucro con m\u00e1s de 54.000 miembros a nivel mundial y 175 a\u00f1os de historia que tiene como objetivo avanzar en la excelencia de las ciencias qu\u00edmicas invirtiendo en la educaci\u00f3n de generaciones futuras, creando y manteniendo est\u00e1ndares, fomentando la innovaci\u00f3n y asesorando gobiernos.<\/p>\n<p>Para ser admitido como <em>Fellow<\/em> de esta sociedad cient\u00edfica hay que tener como m\u00ednimo 5 a\u00f1os de experiencia profesional y que la tarea realizada haya tenido un gran impacto en el campo de la Qu\u00edmica contribuyendo notablemente en el avance de las ciencias qu\u00edmicas. \u00abEstoy absolutamente encantado y honrado por haber sido admitido como miembro de la Royal Society of Chemisty y pasar a formar parte del grupo selecto de cient\u00edficos que han hecho contribuciones importantes en el campo de la qu\u00edmica\u00bb, afirma Mestres. \u00abAgradezco profundamente a la Royal Society of Chemistry este reconocimiento que me llena de satisfacci\u00f3n y me alienta a perseguir objetivos m\u00e1s ambiciosos y alcanzar nuevas metas\u00bb, a\u00f1ade el investigador.<\/p>\n<p>Jordi Mestres\u00a0obtuvo el grado en qu\u00edmica por la Universidad Aut\u00f3noma de Barcelona (1990) y el doctorado en qu\u00edmica por el Instituto de Qu\u00edmica Computacional de la Universidad de Girona (1996). Aunque comienza su carrera investigadora en el campo de la qu\u00edmica cu\u00e1ntica, su paso por la empresa farmac\u00e9utica \u2013primero en Pharmacia &amp; Upjohn (Estados Unidos) y m\u00e1s tarde en Organon (Escocia)\u2013 le encaminar\u00eda hacia el dise\u00f1o computacional de f\u00e1rmacos. En 2003 regresa a Barcelona, donde crea el grupo de investigaci\u00f3n en Quimiogen\u00f3mica dentro del programa de investigaci\u00f3n en Inform\u00e1tica Biom\u00e9dica (GRIB) del Instituto Hospital del Mar de Investigaciones M\u00e9dicas (IMIM).<\/p>\n<p>La excelencia de su investigaci\u00f3n fue reconocida en 2006 con el premio internacional Corwin Hansch que otorga la QSAR &amp; Modelling Society y en 2007 con el primero de los premios a la Transferencia de Conocimiento otorgado por el Consejo Social de la Universidad Pompeu Fabra (UPF). En los \u00faltimos 20 a\u00f1os, Jordi Mestres ha sido ponente invitado a las conferencias m\u00e1s prestigiosas en el campo del dise\u00f1o de f\u00e1rmacos. Es autor de m\u00e1s de 150 publicaciones, entre las que hay 9 patentes.
