Con este trabajo, los cient\u00edficos han conseguido ver la estructura de una m\u00e1quina proteica directamente en c\u00e9lulas vivas mientras realiza su funci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>\u00abLas t\u00e9cnicas\u00a0in vitro\u00a0disponibles son excelentes y nos permiten ver el detalle del \u00e1tomo, pero la informaci\u00f3n que nos dan es limitada. No entenderemos c\u00f3mo funciona un motor si lo desmontamos y s\u00f3lo nos fijamos en sus piezas por separado. Necesitamos ver el motor ensamblado en el coche y en funcionamiento. En biolog\u00eda, no tenemos todav\u00eda las herramientas para visualizar el engranaje entero de una c\u00e9lula viva, pero con esta t\u00e9cnica que hemos desarrollado damos un salto, y podemos ver, en 3D, c\u00f3mo los complejos de prote\u00ednas llevan a cabo sus funciones\u201d, explica\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.irbbarcelona.org\/en\/profile\/oriol-gallego\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Oriol Gallego<\/a>, investigador del IRB Barcelona y coordinador del equipo art\u00edfice de este trabajo, y en el que tambi\u00e9n ha participado la estudiante de doctorado\u00a0Irene Pazos.<\/p>\n<p>Ver la maquinaria nanom\u00e9trica en funcionamiento<\/p>\n<p>La nueva estrategia integra m\u00e9todos de microscop\u00eda de superresoluci\u00f3n -invenci\u00f3n premiada con el Nobel de Qu\u00edmica en 2014-, modificaci\u00f3n gen\u00e9tica y modelado computacional. La tecnolog\u00eda permite observar complejos proteicos con una precisi\u00f3n de cinco nan\u00f3metros*, una resoluci\u00f3n \u00abcuatro veces mejor de lo que ofrece la superresoluci\u00f3n y que nos permite llevar a cabo estudios de biolog\u00eda celular hasta ahora inviables\u00bb, detalla\u00a0Gallego. (*un nm es una millon\u00e9sima parte de un mil\u00edmetro. Un cabello mide de ancho 100.000 nm)<\/p>\n<p>Los investigadores modifican c\u00e9lulas gen\u00e9ticamente para crear dentro unos soportes artificiales donde pueden anclar los complejos de prote\u00ednas. Estos soportes est\u00e1n dise\u00f1ados de forma que permiten controlar desde qu\u00e9 perspectiva se observa la nanom\u00e1quina inmovilizada.
