Esta hormona, producida por los adipocitos, es una mol\u00e9cula que regula la glucosa y el metabolismo de l\u00edpidos, y por ello resulta una diana muy efectiva para el mecanismo de acci\u00f3n de los omega-3.<\/p>\n<p>\u00abEste descubrimiento tiene implicaciones en la comprensi\u00f3n de los efectos beneficiosos de los n-3 PUFA sobre el control de las enfermedades metab\u00f3licas y otros aspectos relacionados con el tratamiento de la obesidad y la diabetes de tipo 2\u00bb, explica el catedr\u00e1tico Francesc Villarroya, miembro del Instituto de Biomedicina de la Universidad de Barcelona (IBUB) y jefe del Grupo de Investigaci\u00f3n de Gen\u00e9tica y Biolog\u00eda Molecular de Prote\u00ednas Mitocondriales y Patolog\u00edas Asociadas.<\/p>\n<p>El estudio realizado demuestra que los \u00e1cidos grasos omega-3 favorecen el proceso de la termog\u00e9nesis adaptativa en el tejido adiposo marr\u00f3n de los mam\u00edferos, un mecanismo vital para que el organismo pueda adaptarse a los ambientes fr\u00edos.
