Este proceso, denominado\u00a0angiog\u00e9nesis, es esencial para que las c\u00e9lulas tumorales puedan alimentarse, crecer y, eventualmente, generar met\u00e1stasis.<\/p>\n<p>Hasta ahora, se hab\u00edan descrito funciones de\u00a0p38\u00a0en c\u00e9lulas tumorales, pero se conoc\u00eda muy poco sobre c\u00f3mo actuaba esta prote\u00edna en las\u00a0CMM\u00a0y, todav\u00eda menos, durante el proceso de\u00a0angiog\u00e9nesis. El objetivo del estudio era precisamente investigar el papel de\u00a0p38\u00a0en la formaci\u00f3n de nuevos vasos sangu\u00edneos durante la\u00a0tumorig\u00e9nesis, especialmente considerando la contribuci\u00f3n de las\u00a0CMM.<\/p>\n<p>En concreto el equipo liderado por\u00a0Nebreda\u00a0ha demostrado que la actividad de\u00a0p38\u00a0es importante en un tipo determinado de c\u00e9lulas llamadas c\u00e9lulas madre\u00a0mesenquimales\u00a0(CMM), que tienen una alta plasticidad y se pueden localizar alrededor de los vasos sangu\u00edneos. Las\u00a0CMM\u00a0contribuyen a diferentes procesos, como por ejemplo el desarrollo tumoral, y este estudio demuestra concretamente su importancia en la regulaci\u00f3n de la\u00a0angiog\u00e8nesis.
