Se trata de la distinci\u00f3n individual m\u00e1s prestigiosa, que se le entreg\u00f3 a Salmeron durante la reciente conferencia ESB 2026 celebrada en Amberes, B\u00e9lgica.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>El premio George Winter fue establecido por la ESB para reconocer, fomentar y estimular contribuciones de investigaci\u00f3n destacadas en el campo de los biomateriales. Se concede a investigadores e investigadoras que han hecho avanzar de forma significativa el conocimiento en este campo mediante trabajo b\u00e1sico, experimental y\/o cl\u00ednico, y est\u00e1 considerado la m\u00e1xima distinci\u00f3n de la Sociedad. Desde 2025 cuenta con el patrocinio del AO Research Institute Davos.<\/p>\n<p>Salmeron imparti\u00f3 una conferencia como galardonado en una sesi\u00f3n celebrada en su honor, moderada por <strong>Cristina Barrias<\/strong> y <strong>Nicholas Dunne<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u00abEs un honor recibir este reconocimiento de la European Society for Biomaterials. Se trata de un premio muy especial, que celebra la excelencia y el trabajo colaborativo en biomateriales. Reconoce el trabajo que mis talentosos estudiantes y postdocs han desarrollado de forma constante a lo largo de los a\u00f1os, gran parte de \u00e9l en colaboraci\u00f3n con colegas del Reino Unido, Estados Unidos, toda Europa y aqu\u00ed en el IBEC\u00bb, declar\u00f3 <strong>Manuel Salmeron<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>El director del IBEC lidera tambi\u00e9n el grupo de investigaci\u00f3n <a href=\"https:\/\/ibecbarcelona.eu\/es\/manuel-salmeron-recibe-el-premio-george-winter-2026\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Microambientes para la medicina<\/a>, centrado en biomateriales y mecanobiologia. Su principal objetivo es dise\u00f1ar las propiedades f\u00edsicas y bioqu\u00edmicas de los microambientes materiales \u2014como la viscoelasticidad y la presentaci\u00f3n de prote\u00ednas y factores de crecimiento\u2014 para controlar el comportamiento celular con vistas a aplicaciones de medicina regenerativa. La distinci\u00f3n no solo reconoce la trayectoria cient\u00edfica de <strong>Salmeron<\/strong>, sino que sigue un notable precedente institucional: el fundador del IBEC, <strong>Josep A.
