Founded in 2020 as a spin-off from <a href=\"https:\/\/icn2.cat\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ICN2<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.icrea.cat\/es\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ICREA<\/a>, with the participation of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.imb-cnm.csic.es\/ca\/linstitut\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IMB-CNM-CSIC<\/a>, the total amount raised since inception amounts to $68 million.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The round was led by <a href=\"https:\/\/cts.businesswire.com\/ct\/CT?id=smartlink&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fimecxpand.com%2Fen&amp;esheet=54142596&amp;newsitemid=20241029660063&amp;lan=en-US&amp;anchor=imec.xpand&amp;index=2&amp;md5=f63004600eb3c6154290f76bed969b2f\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" shape=\"rect\">imec.xpand<\/a> with new investors EIC Fund, Fond ICO Next Tech, CDTI-Innvierte and Avan\u00e7sa. Existing investors Asabys Partners, Aliath Bioventures and Vsquared also participated. In addition to the Series B round, Inbrain also secured additional funding and support from Merck KGaA to advance the clinical development of its technology in Merck\u2019s therapeutic areas of interest. This partnership will boost the translation of Inbrain\u2019s platform to human use, expanding its impact across both central and peripheral nervous system applications.<\/p>\n<p>The company\u2019s technology utilizes the unique properties of graphene, a Nobel Prize-winning material known for its strength, flexibility, and conductivity. Inbrain\u2019s implant is only 10 micrometers thick\u2014thinner than a human hair\u2014and is designed to safely decode and modulate neural signals with exceptional accuracy, offering a new level of performance in the emerging field of precision neurology.<\/p>\n<p>The funding will enable Inbrain to accelerate the development of its graphene-based BCI-Tx platform, which offers a bidirectional solution to decode and modulate neural activity with unprecedented resolution.
