The Association of Science and Technology Parks of Spain (<\/strong>APTE<\/strong><\/a>) recently held its second annual <\/strong> in Avil\u00e9s. At the event, APTE presented the figures on the activity of the companies and entities of the 51 member parks, highlighting growth in all the indicators with respect to the previous year. It also announced the new members of its Executive Board, comprising 14 members from 9 autonomous communities, including Maria Terrades, director of the Barcelona Science Park.<\/strong><\/p>\n

One of the most outstanding pieces of data for 2023 presented at the assembly was the considerable increase in the turnover of the companies and entities of the APTE member science and technology parks, which amounted to 28.917 billion euros, 15% more than in 2022. There was also considerable investment in R&D, a total of 1.7 billion euros, up 11% on the previous year, reflecting robust economic activity.<\/p>\n

In 2023, the number of companies and entities located in APTE science and technology parks reached 5,908, marking a growth of 2% over the previous year, indicative of these ecosystems’ capacity to attract and retain innovative organisations.<\/p>\n

Sector diversity is another strength of science and technology parks. The information, computer and telecommunications sectors account for 25% of activity, followed by engineering, consulting and advisory services, with 18%, and medicine and health, with 9%.<\/p>\n

These data reflect the dynamism and importance of science and technology parks in Spain’s business and innovation fabric, acting as a catalyst for innovation and contributing to the country’s economic and social development.<\/p>\n

APTE also took advantage of the assembly to announce the new members of its Executive Board and delegated committees.\u00a0Felipe Romera<\/strong>, director of M\u00e1laga TechPark, once again assumes his position at the Board’s head. Maria Terrades<\/strong>, director of the Barcelona Science Park, is one of the Association’s new vice-presidents.<\/p>\n
