The researcher and professor at the UB received the grant in the Life &amp; Medical Sciences category. \u00a0This five-year award will enable him to enhance the impact and international visibility of his research.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/recercaiuniversitats.gencat.cat\/en\/inici\/nota-premsa\/index.html?id=602502\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ICREA Academia call<\/a> provides financial support to teaching staff from Catalan public universities, allowing them to increase their research dedication by reducing their teaching responsibilities.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The ICREA Academia award is a crucial tool for university professors to maximize their time and resources dedicated to research. It is both an honor and a responsibility that ICREA has recognized the value of the research conducted by my group\u201d, says<strong> Pere Roca-Cusachs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Roca-Cusachs leads the <a href=\"https:\/\/ibecbarcelona.eu\/es\/cellmolmech\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cellular and Molecular Mechanobiology<\/a>\u00a0research group at IBEC and holds a full professorship at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the <a href=\"https:\/\/web.ub.edu\/en\/home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">University of Barcelona (UB)<\/a>. His research focuses on elucidating the mechanisms by which cells detect and respond to mechanical stimuli \u2013 such as forces or tissue stiffness \u2013 which regulate processes like embryonic development, tumorigenesis, or wound healing.<\/p>\n<p>The ICREA Academia program aims to retain research talent in Catalonia. Grants awarded by the Catalan Institution for Research and Advanced Studies (ICREA) recognize the research trajectory of teaching staff active in Catalan public universities and in an advanced phase of their research career.
