The resulting report has identified some non-compliances in the segregation of laboratory waste. The segregation and identification of waste is the exclusive responsibility of the laboratories, and we ask for your collaboration, especially in three areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><u>Identification of drums<\/u> with easy-to-read labels including the following information: group name, content and opening and closing dates.<\/li>\n<li><u>No drum should be kept for more than 6 months<\/u>. Even if it is not full, after six months it must be closed and removed from the laboratory.<\/li>\n<li><u>Do not fill liquid containers to more than 90%<\/u> of their capacity. The waste can cause sub-reactions so it is advisable to have a safe volume in the container itself.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We would like to take this opportunity to remind you that in the General Services\/Waste Management section of the PCB intranet there is information on collection days, rates for 2024 and the segregation of waste groups, both for laboratory waste and other types that are produced: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pcb.ub.edu\/en\/intranet\/general-services\/\">https:\/\/www.pcb.ub.edu\/en\/intranet\/general-services\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Please be informed that in the coming weeks we will be organising a <strong>training session<\/strong> <strong>on waste management <\/strong>targeted especially at research staff who have joined in recent months.
