The Academy is an honorific leadership group within the <a href=\"https:\/\/asm.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">American Society for Microbiology (ASM)<\/a>\u00a0and its members are elected annually through a highly selective, peer-review process, based on their record of scientific achievements and original contributions that have advanced microbiology. This year the Academy received 156 nominations, of which 65 were admitted into the 2024 Class.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Dr. Toni Gabald\u00f3n<\/strong> has been elected to the American Academy of Microbiology in recognition of his significant contributions to the field of microbiology. His groundbreaking research in comparative genomics and evolutionary biology has provided deep insights into microbial evolution, function, and diversity. His work has not only advanced our understanding of microbial genomes but also highlighted their impact on human health and disease.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am deeply honoured to be elected to the American Academy of Microbiology. This recognition is not just a personal milestone but a testament to the collective effort of my team and collaborators.
