Biocat<\/a>, headquartered in the Barcelona Science Park, has started working, in conjunction with partners all over Europe, on the European BRIGHT and INNAXE projects to maximize the impact of innovation generated in the BioRegion of Catalonia<\/a>, and align the organization\u2019s strategy with current European and international trends in the life sciences and healthcare sector.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The BioRegion of Catalonia is a\u00a0benchmark innovative European ecosystem.<\/a>\u00a0Catalonia is undergoing a transformation, with a social and political commitment to health in the face of the healthcare and climate crises. A sector that is consolidating its place as a driver of economic growth, a noteworthy technology environment and a growing number of digital health companies destined to transform health and healthcare.<\/p>\n

In this context of effervescent change, Biocat is in charge of coordinating the two projects that have received European funding through the\u00a0COSME<\/a>\u00a0(BRIGHT) and\u00a0European Innovation Ecosystems<\/a>\u00a0(INNAXE) programs under\u00a0Horizon Europe<\/a>, which we will explain below.<\/p>\n

BRIGHT: digital transformation and reinforcing digital health<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The BRIGHT project (from Beyond tRansformative dIGitalisation of HealTh clusters<\/em>) brings together four European clusters:\u00a0STUNS<\/a>, Sweden;\u00a0Connected Health Cluster<\/a>, Estonia;\u00a0Eurasant\u00e9<\/a>, France; and\u00a0Biocat<\/a>, Catalonia. The members of the consortium aim to accompany the stakeholders in their respective ecosystems on their\u00a0digital transformation and bolster the digital health subsector.\u00a0So, in the first phase, Biocat and the rest of the partners are consulting with companies and support bodies to determine the sector\u2019s digital maturity and be able to define better instruments for the sector.<\/p>\n

INNAXE: measuring Biocat\u2019s impact on the ecosystem<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The other project is INNAXE (Inclusive & aligned iNNovation Agendas Across Europe<\/em>), which brings together the clusters\u00a0Medicen<\/a>\u00a0(France), BioRN<\/a> (Germany), Health and Life Sciences Cluster<\/a>\u00a0(Bulgaria), Danish Life Science Cluster<\/a>\u00a0(Denmark), Biocat<\/a> (Catalonia) and the Council of European BioRegions<\/a>\u00a0.<\/p>\n

The challenge that has led Biocat to promote this new project is the need to\u00a0measure the impact its activities have on the ecosystem, with a view to providing better service for stakeholders in tackling their needs. Aligning innovation agendas to make them more inclusive and give them a greater social impact requires co-creating a long-term plan, with academia, industry, administration and society (the stakeholders in the quadruple helix), that integrates all their visions and can be transferred around Europe.<\/p>\n
