Dra. Elisa Mart\u00ed, Research Professor at Institute of Molecular Biology of Barcelona (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pcb.ub.edu\/empresa\/institut-de-biologia-molecular-de-barcelona-ibmb-csic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IBMB-CSIC<\/a>), and Dr. Toni Gabald\u00f3n, group leader at the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB Barcelona) and the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bsc.es\/ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BSC-CNS<\/a>), will join a community of more than 1,800 renowned life scientists, 90 of which have been honoured with the Nobel Prize.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ibmb.csic.es\/en\/department-of-developmental-biology-ddb\/development-of-spinal-cord-in-health-and-disease\/#lab-people\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Elisa Mart\u00ed<\/a> is a Research Professor and Senior Principal Investigator of the Development of the Nervous System in health and disease Lab at IBMB-CSIC. She has a long standing interest in Developmental Neurobiology, with the particular aim of understanding the formation of the Spinal Cord. Her laboratory is internationally renowned for the work in genetic networks and cellular events that regulate Neural Development. She is particularly recognized for her extensive characterization of the Sonic Hedgehog pathway in neural development, but her research work has also extended to other signalling pathways (Wnt, BMP, TGFb). His main research addresses the complex relationships between genome sequences and phenotypes and how these two features evolve within and across species.
