The school covers the entire production chain, from the initial stages in the laboratory research through launching the drug to market. This year&#8217;s summer school will be hosted at the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.oncopole-toulouse.com\/en\/iuct-oncopole\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cancer University Institute of Toulouse Oncopole<\/a>\u00a0(France), which features leading healthcare professionals, researchers, academics and entrepreneurs in the fight against cancer.<\/p>\n<p>This program&#8217;s value added is that it covers both the theory and practice of the topic. The summer school will start on Monday 4 July with two theory sessions on the drug discovery phase, emphasizing the role of chemical biology and new types of biological drugs made from cell and gene therapy.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday and Wednesday, participants will work on drug discovery in the preclinical phase and will also do a practical case study, in which students will play an active, dynamic role in the workshop, interacting with companies from the sector. Students will have additional opportunities to do this in the other sessions studying real cases with the real protagonists present, scheduled throughout the week.<\/p>\n<p>The theory modules will be complemented over the following days with sessions focusing on clinical development, transferring research to industry and issues of pharmaceutical economics and intellectual property. Drug products concepts will also be discussed, focusing on patents, manufacturing and marketing.<\/p>\n<p>Highlights will include a visit to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sanofi.fr\/l\/fr\/fr\/layout.jsp?cnt=6E3465C9-0739-4C26-BF12-9221C1D18D7D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sanofi Biopark<\/a>\u00a0on Thursday 7 July and a symposium led by representatives from\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sanofi.fr\/l\/fr\/fr\/index.jsp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sanofi<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.evotec.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Evotec<\/a>, who will speak about the industrial market.<\/p>\n<p>The Summer School on Medicines is an initiative of Biocat,\u00a0Barcelona Science Park,\u00a0University of Montreal\u00a0and\u00a0University Paul Sabatier Toulouse III.
