{"id":50210,"date":"2015-09-18T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2015-09-17T23:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.pcb.ub.edu\/registration-starts-for-the-2015-2016-recerca-en-societat-program-at-the-barcelona-science-parc\/"},"modified":"2020-11-18T15:27:12","modified_gmt":"2020-11-18T14:27:12","slug":"registration-starts-for-the-2015-2016-recerca-en-societat-program-at-the-barcelona-science-parc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pcb.ub.edu\/en\/registration-starts-for-the-2015-2016-recerca-en-societat-program-at-the-barcelona-science-parc\/","title":{"rendered":"Registration starts for the 2015-2016 &#8216;Recerca en Societat&#8217; program at the Barcelona Science Parc"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8216;Descobreix la recerca!&#8217; project is aimed at graduate students in senior primary school and offers two alternative proposals: &#8216;Discover Biomedical Research&#8217; and &#8216;Discover Physics and Chemistry Research&#8221;. &#8220;Both activities are supervised by instructors and researchers, and have been especially designed so that young students can carry out experiments following scientific methods and simultaneously playfully expand knowledge about basic concepts, such as cells, genes, atmospheric pressure or chemical reactions.<\/p>\n<p>The workshops end with an interactive guided tour of the different laboratories at PCB that completes the dynamic activities performed during the workshops and allows students to get to know the day-to-day reality of a laboratory and ask researchers questions about everything that awakens their curiosity.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Fes recerca!\u00a0is an initiative aimed at secondary school students and offers nearly 50 workshops during the school year so that students can participate in experiments related to research projects\u00a0 developed at the PCB with the same tools and materials that scientists normally used in their work.<\/p>\n<p>Seven different proposals allow adolescents to create a new drug to treat Alzheimer&#8217;s disease using peptides and proteins; to understand all the stages of developing a new drug for Parkinson; or to find out spots why the spots on leopards, the spirals of seashells or bacterial cultures can be explained with the same mathematical model, among other activities.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Descobreix la recerca!&#8217; and Fes recerca! are supported by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fecyt.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">FECYT<\/a>) of the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, and the Institute of Culture of Barcelona (<a href=\"http:\/\/ajuntament.barcelona.cat\/ciutadania\/es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ICUB<\/a>) of the Barcelona City Council.
