{"id":50155,"date":"2018-04-25T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2018-04-24T23:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.pcb.ub.edu\/the-14th-edition-of-the-batx2lab-programme-gets-underway\/"},"modified":"2020-11-18T15:22:34","modified_gmt":"2020-11-18T14:22:34","slug":"the-14th-edition-of-the-batx2lab-programme-gets-underway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pcb.ub.edu\/en\/the-14th-edition-of-the-batx2lab-programme-gets-underway\/","title":{"rendered":"The 14th edition of the BATX2LAB programme gets underway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Barcelona Science Park has today fired the starting pistol for the BATX2LAB programme with the traditional <a href=\"https:\/\/recercaensocietat.wordpress.com\/batx2lab\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">informative session<\/a>, which was held in the Sala Dolors Aleu and attended by around sixty teachers and heads of study from schools from all around over Catalonia. The meeting explained how the programme will function, and a presentation was also made of delivered on the scientific fields of the researchers who will act as tutors in this edition: microbiology, biophysics, biology, protein structures and nucleic acid complexes, structural biology, peptide and protein chemistry, generation of animal models and nanotechnology.<\/p>\n<p>The BATX2LAB programme offers first-year<em> bachillerato <\/em>students the chance to carry out the practical part of the research project in the PCB laboratories under the tutorship of a scientist, with the 3 best projects receiving an award at the end. In addition, the winning parties successful candidates will present their work at a stand at the <a href=\"https:\/\/recercaensocietat.wordpress.com\/fira\/fira-2017\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Live Research Fair<\/a>\u2014held every year at CosmoCaixa Barcelona\u2014together with 11 research groups from prestigious institutions from across Catalonia, in which they will explain their project to the attending public.<\/p>\n<p>BATX2LAB is part of PCB\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/recercaensocietat.wordpress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Research in Society<\/a> initiative\u2014a proposal to promote dialogue between citizens and researchers, and to encourage young people to consider jobs in the field, which has been one of its strategic approaches since 2003. This programme is supported by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fecyt.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Fundaci\u00f3n Espa\u00f1ola para la Ciencia y la Tecnolog\u00eda<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fecyt.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">, <\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fecyt.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">FECYT<\/a>) and the <a href=\"http:\/\/ajuntament.barcelona.cat\/ca\/\">Barcelona City Council<\/a>, and in 2016 was recognised with the Educational Quality Stamp of the Barcelona Teaching Coordination Council (<a href=\"http:\/\/w13.bcn.cat\/APPS\/wprpae\/general\/Presentacion.do?method=consellCoordinacio\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Consejo de Coordinaci\u00f3n Pedag\u00f3gica de Barcelona<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/w13.bcn.cat\/APPS\/wprpae\/general\/Presentacion.do?method=consellCoordinacio\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">, <\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/w13.bcn.cat\/APPS\/wprpae\/general\/Presentacion.do?method=consellCoordinacio\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CCP<\/a>).<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u25ba\u00a0The application window is open until deadline is 11 May, and the successful applicants will be published on the programme\u2019s website: \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/recercaensocietat.wordpress.com\/batx2lab\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">www.pcb.ub.edu\/recercaensocietat<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Barcelona Science Park has just opened the registration period for participating in the 14th edition of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/recercaensocietat.wordpress.com\/practiques\/batx2lab\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">BATX2LAB<\/a>, the research project programme aimed at bachillera<em>to (High School)\u00a0<\/em>students.
