{"id":50045,"date":"2017-05-19T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2017-05-18T23:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.pcb.ub.edu\/winners-of-the-exporecerca-young-award-visit-the-pcb\/"},"modified":"2020-11-18T15:12:04","modified_gmt":"2020-11-18T14:12:04","slug":"winners-of-the-exporecerca-young-award-visit-the-pcb","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pcb.ub.edu\/en\/winners-of-the-exporecerca-young-award-visit-the-pcb\/","title":{"rendered":"Winners of the Exporecerca Young Award visit the PCB"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This year, the winners of the PCB\u00b4s\u00a0awards within the framework of the celebration of the Exporerca Young, on April 6, 7 and 8, were: Mar Fillat, from the Samuel Gili i Gaya Institute (Lleida), for the work <em>Neural Polarization: on the orders of microtubules<\/em>; Queralt Portell de Montserrat, from the Manuel Carrasco Institute i\u00a0 Formiguera (Barcelona), for the work <em>Study of the change of the halomass in galaxies depending on their proximity to filaments in the univers<\/em>e; and Illiane Guillot Vidal, from the Hamelin Laie International School (Montgat, Barcelona), for the work <em>Immunological Diagnosis by means of intraepithelial lymphocytes in celiac disease<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>PCB also awarded a second prize to Marina Est\u00e9vez Garc\u00eda, from the Colegi Santa Teresa Ganduxer\u00a0(Barcelona), for the work <em>Study of the effects of the decoration of mandals on the attention and psychological in patients affected by attention deficit disorder and\/or hyperactivity<\/em>\u00a0(ADHD).<\/p>\n<p>The winners have had the opportunity to visit the Parc Cient\u00edfic de Barcelona and to become familiar with the different laboratories led by the scientists who work in them, such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irbbarcelona.org\/ca\/research\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology Molecular<\/a>\u00a0at the Institute for Biomedical Research \u00a0(IRB Barcelona), and the\u00a0Electronic <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ccit.ub.edu\/ES\/tb04.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cryo-Microscopy<\/a>\u00a0at the Science and Technology Centers of the University of Barcelona.\u00a0 \u00a0(CCiTUB).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The young students have also taken part in experimental workshops of the Research in Society program: <a href=\"https:\/\/recercaensocietat.files.wordpress.com\/2016\/02\/analitza-ladn-i-investiga-lautor-dun-crim1-para-combinar.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Analyse DNA and investigate the author of a crime!<\/a>, in which they have examined DNA samples by electrophoresis, separation technique that is used in laboratories around the world, and building proteins, in which they have gained further knowledge on the process of peptide synthesis and the research work currently underway on these potential drugs for the treatment of diseases such as cancer, AIDS or neurodegenerative disorders.<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Young scientific talents<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Exporecerca Young is a showcase of international research projects to promote the exchange of experiences and knowledge among young people aged between 12 and 30 years.
