‘Music moves us for multiple sclerosis’\u00a0is an innovative, transversal and eclectic concert that will compile musical works of different cultures around the world representing all styles within the symphonic genre, from the so-called ‘classical’ music through most modern music such as bossa nova or rumba, to tango, and Klezmer ethnic vocal music.<\/p>\n

The concert will begin the Vivaldi Choir – Els Petits Cantors de Catalunya, with a compilation of songs, directed by \u00d3scar Boada, celebrating its 25th anniversary.<\/p>\n

This will be followed by a performance by the Orchestra of the Barcelona Concert Society, soloist pianist Alfredo Salvador, clarinetist \u00c1ngel Belda, and singer Johanna Klingfors under the guidance of \u00a0orchestra conductor\u00a0 Melani Mestre, one for the concerts for piano and orchestra by Franz Liszt, a collection of pieces from the ethnic style called “Klezmer” or “Yiddish” and a selection of “Bossa Nova” and “Samba” by cinema composer Lalo Schiffrin, arranged by the famous conductor.<\/p>\n

To conclude the event, Melani Mestre will lead the world premiere of his “Concerto for piano and orchestra – Concertango” on themes by Astor Piazzolla, written especially for the occasion.<\/p>\n

The solidary musical event is a way to address one of the great challenges facing our society. With this concert, we achieve one of the challenges we had at the Foundation, which was to reach the clinical phase of one of our research projects,” says Vicens Oliver, president of the Fundaci\u00f3 GAEM and personally affected by MS since 1993.<\/p>\n

Multiple sclerosis is the second leading cause of neurological disability in young adults (between 20 and 40 years of age) after trauma injuries. In Spain, there are around 40,000 people affected, of which 6,000 are in Catalonia. 2,500,000 cases have been diagnosed in the world.<\/p>\n

“Everybody who is taking part in this solidarity concert fighting the disease with one of the most powerful weapons we have in the cultural and social context: music,” says Melani Mestre.<\/p>\n
