To encourage interaction, each stand will formulate an enigma for the public to solve, following scientific methodology.<\/p>\n<p>The opening ceremony took place today,\u00a07th April\u00a0and was attended\u00a0by\u00a0Dr.\u00a0D\u00eddac\u00a0Ram\u00edrez, Rector\u00a0of the\u00a0University\u00a0of\u00a0Barcelona;\u00a0Josep Antoni Plana,\u00a0General Director of PCB;\u00a0Jordi Portabella, Director of the\u00a0Area\u00a0of Science,\u00a0Research\u00a0and Environment at\u00a0&#8221;la Caixa&#8221; Banking\u00a0Foundation; Lluis Noguera,\u00a0Director of\u00a0CosmoCaixa, and Javier Hidalgo, Head of Science Exhibitions at\u00a0&#8221;la Caixa&#8221; Banking\u00a0Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>Testing the &#8216;visual capacity&#8217; of an autonomous car to detect pedestrians and avoid accidents; discovering how to use bioengineering to design devices and drugs of the future; analyzing the remains of a sauropod dinosaur, or creating fantastic creatures in a virtual world of 6 meters in diameter and interacting with others, are some of the experiments in which visitors will be able to participate.<\/p>\n<p>The eleven centers that collaborate in this 14th edition are: the Centre for Studies in Sport and Physical Activity (CEEAF) of the University of Vic-Central University of Catalonia (UVic); Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG); the Center for Environmental Technology and Food Toxicology (TecnATox) of the Rovira i Virgili University (URV); Computer Vision Centre (CVC); the Cognitive Media Technologies Group at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF); Department of Analytical Chemistry of the University of Barcelona (UB); the Catalan Institute of Paleontology Miquel Crusafont (ICP); the Pere Virgili Health Research Institute and research groups from ITAKA-IRCV-URV; the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC); the Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO) and the Vall d&#8217;Hebron Research Institute (VHIR).<\/p>\n<p>One more time, the three winners of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pcb.ub.edu\/portal\/en\/noticies\/-\/noticia\/not_-el-pcb-lliura-els-premis-batx2lab?backURL=%2Fportal%2Fca%2Fel-pcb%23sala-premsa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Batx2Lab<\/a>\u00a0awards, addressed to secondary school students that do their practicum research course at PCC will have their own stand at the fair where they will be explaining visitors the research project they worked on.<\/p>\n<p>The fair \u201cLive Research\u201d is offered as part of the science dissemination and outreach program of <span style=\"font-family: 'Afta Sans Regular';font-size: 13px;line-height: 16px\">Research in Society<\/span>\u00a0of PCB offering more than 100 activities involving more than 5,000 people each year. In last year\u00b4s edition, more than 1,500 visitors enjoyed the opportunity to participate in scientific experiments by the hand of 75 researchers.<\/p>\n<p>The event is free on the 6, 7 and 8 April for schools by previous reservation.
