Intelligent Pharma \u2013with headquarters at the Barcelona Science Park (PCB)\u2013\u00a0currently has international oficces in five countries:\u00a0in Heidelberg (Germany), London (United Kingdom), Cambridge (United States) and Calgary (Canada),\u00a0the latter is specialized in petrochemical research.<\/p>\n

The new Munich office will enable the creation of a solid commercial platform for high value-added services in the pharmaceutical industry. The objective of the office will be to increase brand visibility and increase market share in the Bavarian region.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cWe chose Munich because it is an area with a very powerful industry and our market share is still low in that region. Currently we are the only service provider in computational chemistry with a presence in five countries and customers in twenty countries around the world”, says Dr. Ignasi Belda, founder and CEO of Intelligent Pharma<\/p>\n

\nCapital injection<\/strong><\/p>\n

In addition, Intelligent Pharma just recently received a public capital injection of 550,000 euros, from the Plan Avanza 2<\/a> program, promoted by the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, and from the Ayudas para Contratos Torres Quevedo<\/a> call (from the Ministry of Economy and Competiveness. With these resources, the company will continue to develop its virtual polypharmacology technology, Pythia<\/a>, for the discovery of new action mechanisms of molecules with therapeutic potential.<\/p>\n

\u201cPythia\u00b4s new version includes functionalities in high demand by the market, such as the inclusion of phenotypical data, the study of metabolic pathways, or intersurface improvements that allow to exclude or include new therapeutic targets in virtual studies\u201d, explains Dr. Belda.<\/p>\n

Intelligent Pharma is a spin-off of the University of Barcelona founded in 2007 by a young entrepreneur, engineer Ignasi Belda, at PCB. Currently, the company focuses on the development, commercialization and use of new technologies in computational chemistry and artificial intelligence for drug discovery. These services are aimed at public research institutions, as well as biotech, nutritional, cosmetic and most recently petrochemical companies. In its nearly eight years of operation, Intelligent Pharma has received 15 awards for its innovation capacity and growth potential, among these, the EntrepreneurXXI award, offered by \u201cla Caixa\u201d and ENISA, and the BioEntrepreneurXXI award, granted by Barcelona Activa, Biocat and la Fundaci\u00f3n “la Caixa\u201d. The last two awards were Premio Pr\u00edncep de Girona 2014 Empresa<\/a> and the Recognition Award for Innovation<\/a> granted by CECOT.<\/p>\n
