Bio\u20acquity Europe is the main meeting point in the sector for investors looking for Life Science companies to invest in and experts in biopharmaceutical licensing who want to assess new business opportunities. In this 2019 edition of the event, the schedule once again included partnering\u00a0meetings, plenary sessions, round tables and workshops in the Hotel Crowne Plaza, the site of the meeting.<\/p>\n

In the specialist presentation entitled \u201cScaling Up Catalonia\u201d, Jordi Naval, the Managing Director of Biocat<\/a>, laid out the potential of the Catalonia BioRegion, and several companies from the Barcelona Science Park presented their success stories, including Glycardial Diagnostics<\/a> and IDP Pharma<\/a>. Throughout the two days of the event, AELIX Therapeutics<\/a>, Cebiotex <\/a>and Senolytic Therapeutics<\/a> also presented their projects to potential investors.<\/p>\n

Bio\u20acquity also hosted the official presentation of Ona Therapeutics<\/a>, a new spin-off from IRB Barcelona and the Instituci\u00f3 Catalana de Recerca i Estudis Avan\u00e7ats (ICREA), which is starting out with \u20ac1.5 million from Sabadell Asabys, a joint initiative by Banco Sabadell and Asabys Partners. The company, based in the Barcelona Science Park, focuses its activities on developing a new medicinal product to treat metastatic cancer.<\/p>\n

The Bosch i Gimpera Foundation<\/a> attended the event to present the spin-off portfolio of the Universitat de Barcelona in the Life Sciences sector. Other PCB businesses, such as Aromics<\/a>, AVX Pharma<\/a>, Bionure<\/a>, Genesis BioMed<\/a>, Greenaltech<\/a>, Molomics<\/a> and ProteoDesign<\/a>, also participated in the event.<\/p>\n

A record-breaking edition<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Bio\u20acquity is the main investment event focussing on the European biopharmaceutical industry. The organisers, BioCentury and EBD Group, chose Barcelona as the location for the 20th edition as a result of an initiative by the Regional Hosting Committee, comprised of Biocat <\/a>and CataloniaBio & HealthTech<\/a>\u2014both entities based in the Barcelona Science Park\u2014as well as ACCI\u00d3 and Ysios Capital.<\/p>\n

With almost 600 delegates coming from 361 companies based in 26 countries, Bio\u20acquity 2019 boasted record-breaking turnout. Almost 60 companies and organisations from\u00a0BioRegion of Catalonia participated in over 2,000 partnering\u00a0meetings that took place to seek financing.<\/p>\n

Bio\u20acquity 2019 was supported by Caixa Capital Risc and Grifols as Platinum Regional Sponsors, and Alira Health, AsabysPartners, Asebio, GP Pharm, Invivo Venturas, KPMG, Locust Walk y WeCubed Partners as Gold Regional Sponsors.<\/p>\n

The next edition of Bio\u20acquity will take place in May 2020 in Dublin.<\/p>\n
