\t\t\tThe PCB now opens the applications for financial support from tutors of secondary schools students. This call is aimed at young investigators performing their research at the park. When this call has been determined, students will be invited to several open days in which the PCB will be presented. These will also include guided visits around the facilities and descriptions of the research lines undertaken and previous projects developed that have involved the collaboration of university researchers. Finally, tutors will be assigned to the applicant students. <\/p>\n

In addition to tutors at the PCB, students will continue to be supported by their tutor at the secondary school, who will manage the research projects. Furthermore, the secondary school tutors will also be coordinated by a university researcher who will provide further assessment.<\/p>\n

After completion, the research projects will be presented in several sessions organized by the PCB, and three projects will be granted prizes. The work awarded the first prize may also be presented in the Viva Contemporary Science Fair<\/a> held the following year. The 2005 Fair will be held in the building “la Pedrera” ((Pg. de Gr\u00e0cia, 92) from 3-4 May. <\/p>\n

In addition to this project, the Science in Society Programme also promotes scientific communication through the media and also scientific diffusion through other channels such as exhibitions<\/a>, open days<\/a>, fairs<\/a>, educational packs<\/a>, conferences<\/a>, debates, and laboratory practice. This programme also encompasses the “Friends of the Park Network”, which includes an extensive database of people interested in activities devoted to scientific diffusion. <\/p>\n

Similarly, the project called “Opening up the Park to the Local Community”<\/a>, coordinated by the Centre for Research in Theories and Practices for Overcoming Inequalities CREA<\/a>, aims to inform the local community about the activities undertaken at the park and to respond to the concerns raised by this community. This project covers the districts of Les Corts and Collblanc-La Torrassa, where the PCB is located, and specifically addresses socio-cultural entities, local residents and the educational community. <\/p>\n
