In the paper <i>Estimation of the Limit of Detection Using Information Theory Measures<\/i> (<a>doi:org\/10.1016\/j.aca.2013.10.030<\/a>) \u2013 led by Santiago Marco from the IBEC\u2013 the researchers propose a new way of defining the LOD in which, unlike in existing probabilistic methods.  <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The limit of detection is a fundamental concept in measurement science, The LOD given in the specifications of a system is very significant, as it may have legal implications or play a role in market regulations.
