\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\t\t\tThe welcome ceremony was conducted by Jesus Purroy, Science and Technology Services Technical Director of the PCB, who explained to the participants the objectives, structure and activities carried out at the Parc Cient\u00edfic de Barcelona, and the operation of the practicum program. Then, Anna Vilches, Joint Health and Safety Service Technician, informed the attendees of everything related to laboratory safety and waste management. <\/p>\n
The duration of the \u00abSpend the summer at the Park!\u00bb is from 2 to 3 months between July and September, with a minimum commitment of 5 hours a day. Practicum classes are conducted in groups that focus their activities mainly in the field of biomedicine and biotechnology. This year 24 young people from 3 countries are taking part in this initiative. <\/p>\n
Participating students will be enrolled in three PCB Technology Platforms \u2013the Drug Discovery Platform, the Combinatorial Chemistry Unit and the Unit of Experimental Toxicology and Ecotoxicology\u2013, three institutes located at the PCB \u2013 IBEC, IRB Barcelona and the Institut de Biologia Molecular de Barcelona (IBMB-CSIC)\u2013 and another groups of the Universitat de Barcelona, such as Quantum Simulation of Biological Processes and Cell Signaling Group. Several companies located at the PCB will also host the students, such as Arian International Projects, Intelligent Pharma, Medichem, Meteosim and Aws Truepower.<\/p>\n
This is the twelfth consecutive year that the Parc Cient\u00edfic de Barcelona is offering this practicum program. Over 300 students participated in previous years. According to assessment surveys, both students and tutors, reported to be highly satisfied with this collaboration, a fact which is confirmed by the relationship that previous articipants have maintained with their research group once the practicum program was completed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
