Josep F. Abril, a computational biology expert, is part of the UB’s Consolidated Research Group for Development Biology and Genetics, a group affiliated with the UB’s Department of Genetics, and also a member of the Bioinformatics Unit of the IBUB. His research activity focuses on the computational analysis of signals involved in the determination of exonic structures of the eukaryote genes (in processes such as cut and union splicing), the prediction of genes in genomic sequences using bioinformatic tools and the validation of these predictions. He was part of the scientific team that elaborated one of the first drafts of the human genome, published in the Science journal in 2001. <\/p>\n
