\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\t\t\tThe Catalan delegation at the BIO convention \u2013coordinated by Biocat for the fourth consecutive year- will be headed by Josep-Llu\u00eds Carod-Rovira, vice-president of the Government of the Generalitat and Biocat; Roser Clavell, deputy director of External Affairs and Cooperation, and Andrew Davis, delegate of the Government of Catalonia in the United States. Manel Balcells, president of Biocat’s Executive Commission, Montserrat Vendrell, general director of Biocat, and Fernando Albericio, general director of the Barcelona Science Park, will also be part of the delegation. <\/p>\n
The Spanish pavilion, coordinated by the ICEX and Genoma Spain, will boast, for the first time ever, the largest surface area of the exhibition- exceeding the space occupied by France, Canada and Germany- and will distributed in the format of bioregions (Catalonia, Basque Country, Madrid and Andalusia), following the model of the two previous editions. This pavilion will also include a space pertaining to the ICEX where entities that do not belong to any of the represented communities will be accommodated. <\/p>\n
The Catalan pavilion will host a total of 25 entities with an individual stand, including the Barcelona Science Park and nine companies with offices at the PCB: Advancell, Aromics, Intelligent Pharma, Janus Development, Leitat, Microart, Neurotec Pharma, Omnia Molecular and Oryzon Genomics. Biocat will also have its own space, which will serve as the information point of the BioRegion of Catalonia, as a biocluster, but which it will also share with other institutions from the sector, such as the Bosch i Gimpera Foundation of Barcelona, the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB Barcelona), Endor Nanotechnologies and Ysios Capital Partners, entities based at the Barcelona Science Park. Since its participation in the 2007 BIO in Boston, the space occupied by the BioRegion has not stopped growing, reflecting the continuous growth of the biotech sector in Catalonia. <\/p>\n
As last year, the Spanish pavilion will have a speaker’s corner, open to the entire public of the BIO convention, which will enable representatives of the Catalan entities to present their scientific, technological and business innovations, as well as undergoing research projects. Within the framework of this programme the Barcelona Science Park will participate by conducting a conference titled “PCB: Research, Business and Technological Platforms” on Wednesday May 3 at 3 p.m. <\/p>\n
The international convention of the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) draws over 20,000 professionals from 70 countries, hosts 14,000 partnership meetings and offers an exhibition area with over 1,700 stands. This year, as the commercial and partnering fair take place, the BIO will offer a programme comprised of 175 scientific sessions, with individuals from the industry worldwide and leading politicians such as the former United States presidents, Bill Clinton and George Bush Jr., and also the former North-American vice-president and current advocate of the battle against climate change, Al Gore. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
