\t\t\tThe intent of this meeting is to facilitate contact and collaboration between technological centres, companies and agents who promote innovation in Catalonia with their counterparts and universities and companies in Brazil, a country that has witnessed a growth in its economic and knowledge generation potential over the past few years. The final objective is to improve general productivity and strengthen regional and national systems in order to prevent the loss of their positions at a worldwide scale. <\/p>\n

The inauguration act will include the participation of Josep Antoni Plana, commissioner for the UB group, Foundations and ICT, who will attend on behalf of the rector; Fernando Albericio, general director of the Barcelona Science Park, Neri DosSantos, director of the Department of Knowledge Engineering of the Federal University of Santa Catarina (Brazil), Francisco Machado Botelho, representative of the Universidade Estadual do Cear\u00e1 (UECE) of Brazil, and Jos\u00e9 Luis Luz\u00f3n, coordinator of the Medamerica research group. <\/p>\n

The programme includes four working tables and 32 interventions, and other notable attendees will include the president of the Santa Catarina State Development Company (CODECS), Miguel Ximenes of Melo Filho, the director of the Research and Innovation Park of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, Francesc Sol\u00e9, the director of the Bosch i Gimpera FOundationa, Carme Verdaguer, the president of the International Association of Science and Technological Parks (IASP), Joan Bellavista, and Carles Carreras, deputy rector and vice-rector for International Relations of the University of Barcelona. <\/p>\n
