{"id":46241,"date":"2009-05-22T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2009-05-21T23:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.pcb.ub.edu\/the-pcb-hosts-the-i-conference-on-nanotechnology-and-sustainability\/"},"modified":"2009-05-22T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2009-05-21T23:00:00","slug":"the-pcb-hosts-the-i-conference-on-nanotechnology-and-sustainability","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pcb.ub.edu\/en\/the-pcb-hosts-the-i-conference-on-nanotechnology-and-sustainability\/","title":{"rendered":"The PCB hosts the I Conference on Nanotechnology and Sustainability"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The aim of this gathering is to make public the research currently underway in the field of nanotechnologies and to facilitate the exchange of opinions and thoughts surrounding the potential risks that nanotechnologies entail as well as the need to set in place the scientific basis that will  ensure their safe use. <\/p>\n<p> The welcoming ceremony and presentation will include speeches from Fernando Albericio, director general of the PCB; and  Miquel Borr\u00e0s,  director of the Experimental and Ecotoxicology Unit at the PCB  (UTOX) and the CERETOX (Centre for Research in Toxicology). <\/p>\n<p> Among the invited scientists special mention must be made to Enrico Sabbioni from Ispra (Italy) who held the  post of scientific officer at the Joint Research Centre <a>(JRC)<\/a> at the European Commission and founder and director of  INATOX (In vitro NanoToxicology research at the JRC).  <\/p>\n<p>  Other participating lecturers include Juli\u00e0 Sampere from the Chemical Institute of Sarri\u00e0 <a>(IQS)<\/a>, and coordinator of the Nanosost project; \u00c1lvaro Mata, head of the <a href=\"p905.asp\" class=\"email\">Nanotechnology Unit<\/a> at the Barcelona Science Park; and Enrique Navarro, from <a>The Ecology Institute of the Pyrenees (CSIC)<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p> Attendance to this conference is free of charge but prior registration is required. <\/p>\n<p> <a>For further information<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The PCB will be hosting the I Conference entitled &#8220;Safety and sustainability in the next-coming nanotechnological world&#8221; this next Wednesday, the 27th of May, from 10.30 to 14h h, at the Aula F\u00e8lix Serratosa.
