\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\t\t\tAt this meeting, which was attended by the director general of Barcelona Science Park Fernando Albericio, professionals from around the world, engaged in the management of scientific and technological parks, participated. The aim of the meeting was to provide an opportunity for such people to share their experience and to debate the role of innovation as a tool for economic growth and technological progress. <\/p>\n
Joan Bellavista holds a degree in economics and a doctorate in political sciences and sociology from the Universitat Aut\u00f2noma de Barcelona, and a master’s degree in the organisation of science and technology from the science faculty at Manchester University. At present, in addition to his position at the PCB, he is a lecturer at the faculty of economics at Barcelona University, member of the science and technology advisory council of the Spanish government and the advisory council of the Association of Science and Technology Parks of Spain (APTE). <\/p>\n
In 2005 he was appointed managing director of The Network of Science and Technology Parks of Catalonia (Xarxa de Parcs Cient\u00edfics i Tecnol\u00f2gics de Catalunya \u2013 XPCAT), and he is a member of the advisory council on biomedical research at the department of health of the autonomous government of Catalonia (Consell Assessor de Recerca Biom\u00e8dica del Departament de Salut del Govern de la Generalitat). In the course of his professional career, Joan Bellavista has worked on several development projects in technology, and science and technology parks in various countries in Europe, Australia, Asia, Africa and America. <\/p>\n
IASP is a non-profit organisation with 355 members in 71 countries around the world. It was founded in 1984, and, in addition to science and technology parks, it includes incubators of innovative enterprises, universities development, agencies and technology-transfer and information-transfer consultants.
