In addition, this session covered the introduction of changes into the  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wma.net\/e\/ethicsunit\/helsinki.htm\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"email\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><i>Declaration of Helsinki<\/i><\/a>, a statement of ethical principles that is currently being updated.  <\/p>\n<p> The participants in this session included the following: Harald Schmidt, deputy director  of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nuffieldbioethics.org\/go\/ourwork\/developingcountries\/introduction\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"email\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nuffield Council on Bioethics<\/a>; Tom Murray, director of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thehastingscenter.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"email\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Hastings Center<\/a>; Josep Ma Gatell, head of infectious diseases and AIDS at the <i>Hospital Cl\u00ednic de Barcelona&lt;\/i); and Maria Jes\u00fas Bux\u00f3, full professor of Cultural Anthropology Cultural at the <i>Universitat de Barcelona<\/i> and member of the Observatory on Bioethics and Law, located at the PCB, who will act as chairperson.  <\/p>\n<p> For more information: direcciocientifica@pcb.ub.cat <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Wednesday 19 September the <i>Parc Cient\u00edfic de Barcelona<\/i> (PCB) organized the round table &#8220;Medical research in developing countries: ethical issues &#8220;.
