The first <em>monas <\/em>were ring-shaped cakes decorated with hard-boiled eggs. The use of chocolate for the <em>mona<\/em> is a modern addition, and we can now find <em>monas<\/em> in all shapes and sizes made from cacao.<\/p>\n<p>Harnessing the strength of this tradition, the Associaci\u00f3 Mestres Solid\u00e0ries and the Fundaci\u00f3 Sant Tom\u00e0s de Manlleu have created a giant <em>mona <\/em>called GLOBIT as part of an action to <strong>raise funds to make the paediatric ward of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.santpau.cat\/es\/comunic-actualitat\/l-obrador-de-sant-tomas-crea-una-mona-solidaria-per-transformar-l-area-de-pediatria-de-l-hospital-sant-pau?_assetEntryId=4783780\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hospital Sant Pau<\/a> more welcoming.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To encourage contributions and charity fundraising, the workshop has produced miniature Globits (a combination of <em>globus <\/em>[balloon] and &#8220;rabbit&#8221;), which are for sale in the Esclat and Bonpreu supermarkets.<\/p>\n<p>Tradition and solidarity working together to make children&#8217;s hospital stays just a bit easier.<\/p>\n<p>Happy Easter!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The mona de Pasqua, or Easter cake, is a living tradition with centuries of history behind it and which has evolved over time.
