According to <strong>Richard Haigh<\/strong>, CEO of BioIVT, \u201caccess to ethically sourced tissues and cells has become more critical than ever due to the rising demand for NAMs and more predictive research models\u201d. The acquisition expands the company\u2019s reach, strengthens its portfolio, and provides scientists with the high-quality samples needed to drive innovation and accelerate medical advances.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to supplying essential components for NAMs, BeCytes will play an active role in international research projects, fostering innovation in the life sciences. <strong>Jordi Xapell\u00ed<\/strong>, CEO of BeCytes Biotechnologies, emphasised that \u201cthe company\u2019s long-standing vision has been to accelerate preclinical research to improve patients\u2019 lives through innovation and scientific discovery. BeCytes has long viewed BioIVT as a benchmark of excellence in the field, with the global reach and expertise needed to advance this mission\u201d. The collaboration represents an important step toward expanding capabilities and strengthening connections with the international research community.<\/p>\n<p>BeCytes was founded thanks to the initiative of a group of professors from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Barcelona \u2013 <strong>Dr Jordi Alberch<\/strong>, <strong>Dr Josep Maria Canals<\/strong>, and <strong>Dr Mati Manyalich<\/strong>, all experts in cell therapy \u2013together with <strong>Eduard Xapelli<\/strong> and <strong>Estephan Arredondo<\/strong>, the result of the synergy between university research and the private sector fostered within the environment of the PCB-UB.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Barcelona, a strategic European hub for biotech<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cBarcelona is becoming established as one of the main biotechnology centres in Europe, and the\u00a0PCB-UB\u00a0is one of its epicentres, with growing investment focused on developing new tools that accelerate preclinical research. Founded in 2015 as a spin-off of the University of Barcelona (UB),\u00a0the company celebrates its 10th anniversary as a\u00a0consolidated\u00a0European leader\u00a0in the development and distribution of\u00a0<i>in vitro<\/i>\u00a0cell models, recognised for its innovation in R&amp;D and its\u00a0expertise\u00a0in the production of primary human hepatic cells.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, international activity accounts for 98% of\u00a0BeCytes\u2019 business volume\u00a0in countries such a Germany, Switzerland, the United States, Japan, and France, where it has become a trusted partner for pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, as well as academic researchers seeking coordination in the procurement of human tissues and the generation of cellular products.<\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">BeCytes\u2019\u00a0expertise\u00a0in hepatocyte isolation, together with its robust tissue supply network, gives access to one of the most active regions in Europe for preclinical research.
