The biotechnology company SpliceBio<\/a>, based at the Parc Cient\u00edfic de Barcelona, has been awarded at the 2025 European LifeStars Awards in the \u201cSeries B Raise of the Year\u201d category. The awards, organized by LSX<\/a> (Life Science eXecutive partnering community) and EBD Group<\/a>, were held last week in London.\u00a0With this recognition, the company strengthens its position as one of the most internationally promising biotech firms, at the forefront of innovation in gene therapy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

SpliceBio has been recognized as the winner of the \u201cSeries B Raise of the Year\u201d category, after recently closing a \u20ac118 million funding round, the largest biotech financing ever recorded in Spain. The round was led by the Dutch firm EQT Life Sciences and Sanofi Ventures, with participation from the Roche Venture Fund. The funds will be used to advance the clinical development of its lead program SB\u2011007, targeting Stargardt disease, a hereditary retinal disorder caused by mutations in the ABCA4 gene.<\/p>\n

Out of a total of 10 finalists, among them was Inbrain Neuroelectronics<\/a>, a medtech company based at the Parc Cient\u00edfic de Barcelona.<\/p>\n

The company, led by Miquel Vila-Perell\u00f3<\/strong> (CEO), develops innovative gene therapies based on its protein splicing platform<\/em>, aiming to treat rare genetic diseases. The recent funding round will enable the company to accelerate its clinical programs and consolidate its international expansion.<\/p>\n

With this distinction, SpliceBio strengthens its position as a leading reference in the Spanish and European biotech ecosystem, marking a decisive step in its journey toward the transformation of genetic medicine.<\/p>\n
