The \u201cSTEAM Monologues\u201d show, an initiative of the Barcelona City Council, through Barcelona Activa<\/a> and the Barcelona Science Park (PCB-UB), in collaboration with Big Van Ciencia<\/a>, and as part of the RESS\u00d2 \u2013 Research in Society<\/a> program, held a new edition at the Cibern\u00e0rium facilities in the city. For three consecutive days, secondary school students from the metropolitan area of Barcelona enjoyed a unique experience that combines humor and science communication, fostering interest and vocations in the STEAM fields.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The event brought together more than 350 students from secondary schools, baccalaureate programs, and vocational training courses, coming from nine educational centres in the metropolitan area of Barcelona. Over the course of October 28, 29, and 30, the students filled the Cibern\u00e0rium 22@ and 9 Barris venues of Barcelona Activa.<\/p>\n

On the final day of the activity, Humbert Ruiz<\/strong>, Director of Digital Talent Development at Barcelona Activa, and Grisha Domakowski<\/strong>, Director of Commercialization and Communication at the Barcelona Science Park, presided over the closing ceremony of this second edition of the program, following the success of the first one held last year.<\/p>\n

On this occasion, the monologues invited students to reflect with humor on the challenges and dilemmas of modern science, such as artificial intelligence and deep fakes<\/em>, 5G and data transmission through mobile devices, and even the possibility of conquering Mars. The sessions were led by the Big Van Ciencia outreach team, a group of scientists with over a decade of experience on stage, renowned for their ability to make science a close, fun, and inspiring experience for young audiences.<\/p>\n

The RESS\u00d2 \u2013 Research in Society program, promoted by the Barcelona Science Park, aims to bring science closer to secondary school students, encourage new scientific and technological vocations, and promote reflection on the social impact of scientific advances. In this regard, the collaboration with Barcelona Activa and Big Van Ciencia reinforces the goal of spreading science among young people, inspiring scientific vocations, and encouraging reflection on scientific and technological progress and its impact on society through humor.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
