Video report of the latest edition of the Coffee Connection networking meeting

Last Thursday, March 12, the Barcelona Science Park of the University of Barcelona (PCB-UB) hosted a new edition of Coffee Connection, a networking event aimed at the entire research and entrepreneurial community. On this occasion, the organizations BeCytes Biotechnologies – BioIVT, ISGlobal, Nuage Therapeutics, Orikine Bio, and Fraunhofer Spain took center stage, presenting some of their most notable projects and innovations.

During the event, the Director of the Science Park, María Terrades, reviewed the main initiatives currently underway across the PCB area, with particular emphasis on improvements to facilities and equipment, as well as the installation of new signage featuring a more visual and intuitive design. Among the most significant updates was the announcement of the allocation of the future CUB building to the National Center for Genomic Analysis (CNAG), which will occupy the 2,700 m² of this new space.

In addition, progress continues on the construction of the new MIES-UB project building, led by the University of Barcelona (UB). This project aims to meet the growing demand for laboratory space from organizations already based at the Park, such as the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC), Fraunhofer Spain, and various university research groups.

Furthermore, the Director highlighted the launch of the Sustainability Committee, composed of representatives from 70 different organizations within the Park. This initiative seeks to promote joint projects, such as the first Corporate Mobility Plan (PDE), aimed at improving commuting practices and reducing the environmental impact of daily travel.

The five featured organizations were represented by Chris Black, COO of BioIVT; Ruth Aguilar, staff scientist in the Infection Immunology and Vaccines group at ISGlobal; Mireia Pesarrodona, Drug Screening Platform Manager at Nuage Therapeutics; Christian Pangratz, CEO of Orikine Bio; and Josep Samitier, Executive Director of Fraunhofer Spain.
