Third year of Crazy About Biomedicine

On Monday 15 September, IRB Barcelona –based in the Parc Científic de Barcelona (PCB)– will be opening the registration for its third Crazy About Biomedicine (CAB) course. Running from January until December, CAB 2015 forms part of the Crazy About Science Programme, an initiative promoted by the Fundació Catalunya-La Pedrera that includes another five scientific disciplines. Twenty-four secondary school students start free year-long course that will allow them to delve into the life sciences.

Crazy About Biomedicine is a year-long course aimed at secondary school students in their first year of baccalaureate who are interested in exploring some of the fascinating discoveries being made in the life sciences.

Joan Guinovart, director of IRB Barcelona and promoter of the original programme that was launched in 2013, explains that “the “crazy” course has been designed to help those young people with a passion for science to develop their full potential and quench their thirst for knowledge. The 48 students who have already done this course found it really valuable.”

During the course, students have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of scientific theory and techniques in the field of biomedicine. They work alongside young researchers to get a taste for what doing science in an international research institute is like, gain some hands-on experience in the latest cutting-edge methodologies, and position themselves for a potential career in the life sciences

Students interested in CAB 2015 should complete the online application. The deadline for applications is Monday 14 October (inclusive).

The course is given in English over alternate Saturdays in the labs and facilities of IRB Barcelona, located in the PCB.
