The PCB participates in the Barcelona Innovation Workshops within the framework of the Interbio project

Within the framework of the collaboration project between European regions Interbio, the "Barcelona Innovation workshops: NanoBiotechnology - IT for Biology & Health", will be held at the Hotel Sehrs Campus of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) on October 4-6. These workshops are organized by Biocat with the advisory services of the Barcelona Science Park (PCB) and the UAB Research Park (PRUAB). The objective of these workshops is to increase the mutual knowledge and cooperation between participating regions (Barcelona, Bordeaux, Lisbon, Toulouse and Valencia), and they are aimed towards all the different research agents who use or wish to use nanotechnology and IT for the development of products and/or services, and who are interested in participating in international research projects.

Catalonia is one of the five members –together with Valencia, Lisbon, Toulouse and Bordeaux- of the Interbio project, which is promoted by the European Union to place southwest Europe at the forefront of research. Framed within the Community-based Initiative Programme SUDOE Interreg III B, and funded by the European Fund for Regional Development (FEDER), Interbio has a total budget of nearly two million Euros and a projected duration of 32 months.

The project leader is Paul Sabatier University. As primary partner representing Catalonia will be Biocat (with the collaboration of the Barcelona Science Park and the Research Park of the Autonomous University of Barcelona). Other partners are the National Center of Scientific Research of Bordeaux, the Institute of Chemical and Biological Technology of Lisbon and the Foundation of the Community for Urban and Economic Innovation of Knowledge of Valencia. The scientific committee of Interbio is composed of Francesc Gòdia, commissioner of the rector for Biotechnology and Biomedicine of the UAB; Jordi Quintana, director of the Drug Discovery Platform of the PCB and Rickard Bucksch, director of Innovation and Marketing of the PRUAB.
