The Open Innovation Forum meetings start up

After the success of the first edition, returns the Open Innovation Forum, a program that allows companies to share their innovation challenges and get proposals from research groups and centers. The first meeting will take place on April 3, 2019 at Caixaforum Barcelona, and the second B2B meeting on July 11 at the Barcelona Science Park, which is one of the entities supporting this initiative, which is divided into five areas of knowledge: food, healthcare, medical technology, chemistry and materials.

The Open Innovation Forum is open to any company with innovation needs to develop new products and services, or that has interest in exploring new opportunities for innovation; and research groups from universities and technology centers interested in applying their research to the Catalan business. In this first meeting there are already 40 registered challenges. To participate you have to register in the online platform of the program.

The online platform will be open throughout 2019 and innovation challenges or solutions can be submitted all year long. A committee will assess these challenges and choose the most relevant ones, which will get feedback on possible solutions from Catalan innovation stakeholders and university research centers.

The Open Innovation Forum is organized  by Biocat, ACCIÓ, Universitat de Barcelona, Fundació Bosch i Gimpera, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Parc de Recerca UAB, Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and IDIBELL. The program is also supported by the Barcelona Science Park, Obra “la Caixa”and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

The first Open Innovation Forum was held at the Fira de Barcelona (Gran Via) on October 5, 2017. It saw nearly 150 participants from 54 organizations, who held 131 meetings to tackle 76 challenges.
