The environmental impact of our getaways

June has begun and we can already feel the heat. The hot days and nights of recent weeks have us thinking about escaping and getting out of the city for a change of scenery. Maybe we’re already starting to plan our summer holiday or simply think a quick trip at the weekend will refresh us.

Whatever our objective, let’s plan our outings with environmental criteria and respect for local communities. For example, taking a plane (285 grams of CO2 per passenger and kilometre!) to spend 48 hours on a beach to “cool off and disconnect” and fly back is completely unsustainable. Aren’t there other, less impactful ways to take a short break?

As we can plainly feel, the global temperature of the planet is rising. The causes of climate change are many and varied and cannot be attributed to a single factor. The positive actions and good practices we have in our hands will greatly aid in not accelerating the process.
