The Barcelona Science Park organizes a solidarity Sant Jordi event in collaboration with Sant Joan de Déu

The Parc Científic of the University of Barcelona will celebrate Sant Jordi this year with a solidarity initiative that combines culture and social commitment. The initiative is carried out in collaboration with Solidaritat Sant Joan de Déu, the PCBakers collective, the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC), and a number of volunteers. It includes a book donation campaign open to the entire Parc Científic community from today until April 22.

Donations of books in good condition—such as novels, children’s books, young adult literature or essays—can be made and should be deposited at the collection points set up at the reception desks of the Clúster I and II buildings, with the aim of giving them a second life through the solidarity book stall.

On Sant Jordi Day itself, April 23, a solidarity stall will be set up at the entrance of the Clúster I building (Baldiri Reixac Street, 10), open from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The space will host a solidarity book sale with voluntary pricing, with a minimum donation of 2 euros, as well as products from the Sant Joan de Déu solidarity shop, such as accessories and bookmarks, specially provided for the occasion.

Volunteers from PCBakers will also take part in the initiative, offering a selection of homemade desserts for sale at a symbolic price.

All funds raised will be fully allocated to social and care projects developed by Sant Joan de Déu centres.

The organisers encourage the PCB community to take part, whether by donating books, visiting the stall or helping to spread the word about the initiative among colleagues.
